Ridgeway Education Trust is a multi-academy trust (MAT) which currently comprises two secondary schools, Didcot Girls’ School and St Birinus School, with a joint Sixth Form of some 250 boys and girls.
Didcot Girls’ School is an outstanding school, as confirmed by Ofsted in its most recent inspection of the school in November 2015. The school has a commitment to the very highest standards in everything that it does and is an exciting and happy school where real attention is given to professional development and staff wellbeing. St Birinus School was judged to be a good school by Ofsted in 2016 and aspires to become outstanding. The school has a strong sense of identity, a tangible ethos and a vibrancy which visitors always comment upon.
Both schools are unique as the only single sex state schools in Oxfordshire and share the same strong values of high quality teaching and learning and respectful relationships within an inclusive learning community. We work hard to ensure that all our students develop confidence, leadership skills and high levels of aspiration.
We are looking to appoint two skilled, enthusiastic and committed Chefs to take up two posts – one at Didcot Girls’ School and one at St Birinus School – by no later than the start of the next academic year.
We are looking for applicants who are innovative and who have the drive, energy and vision to meet the needs of our schools and act as lead Chef for either Didcot Girls’ School or St Birinus School on a daily basis. Successful applicants will take full responsibility for planning, organising, operating and developing the catering offer to ensure it meets the highest standards in terms of quality of food, service and safety but acting as lead Chef will be a vital part of the role in setting the very highest standards for the quality of food at our schools.
Terms and Conditions
37 hours per week, term time plus 3 weeks. Permanent position with a start date as soon as possible. Pay will be on Grade 7 (up to £21,044 per annum but an additional allowance could be available for the exceptional candidate).The postholder also has access to the local government pension scheme.

Key Purpose of the Role
To take full responsibility for planning, organising, operating and developing the catering service to ensure it meets the highest standards in terms of quality of food, service and safety
To ensure the schools’ outstanding reputations are upheld by the standard of its food quality and general catering service provision, including customer service.
