A warm welcome from the Governors of Didcot Girls’ School. We are very proud of our school. It has served the community since 1931, not only providing a great education for our children but also helping them to develop into young adults who enrich our society.
We are committed to excellence in all girls' education and passionately believe that the combination of an all girls main school with a co-educational sixth form
offers all of our students the best opportunity to develop and achieve their potential. Our rich curriculum
is designed to help those seeking academic or vocational qualifications. Whilst we are successful in sending students to the UK’s top universities – including Oxford and Cambridge - we also help our girls to find fulfilling roles with local businesses. We were delighted to have our own evaluation of our school endorsed by Ofsted when they rated Didcot Girls’ School as ‘Outstanding' following inspection in November 2015. Superb outcomes for all students over the last three years were rightly attributed to the high quality of leadership throughout the school spearheaded by our Headteacher, Rachael Warwick, and the impressive emphasis on creative and imaginative teaching and learning.
We offer so much more than the curriculum and the personal development opportunities for our students are also outstanding. We have excellent links with Harwell and Culham Science Parks as well as the Smallpeice Engineering Trust, which create superb opportunities for girls to develop a passion and expertise for the STEM subjects. Didcot Girls’ has a strong sporting
tradition with excellent facilities and plays an active part in county fixtures. There are strong art, music
departments which put on regular concerts and shows – often jointly with the boys from St Birinus School
. We are delighted to be able to offer a wide range of languages
within the curriculum: Mandarin Chinese, French, Spanish and German, with Mandarin Chinese becoming an increasingly popular and distinctive aspect of our language provision. Also, as you would expect from a Language College and International Award School, there are regular overseas visits. Recent trips to places as far away as China, Equador, Borneo and Tanzania have helped our students to experience first-hand the wealth of other cultures to be found around the world.
I am very proud to be Chair of Governors at Didcot Girls’ School. The Governors
are very committed to supporting the school and working with the staff to offer the best education to girls in Oxfordshire. The school's 'Commitment to Excellence' is clear in all that it does, and this summer's superb GCSE results are evidence that the school is moving from strength to strength in terms of the levels of success it enables the girls to enjoy.
As a parent of three girls, two of whom have completed their education at the school and one of whom is a current member of the school, I have been delighted with the progress they have made and the support they have received. I am convinced that the happy, and at the same time challenging, learning environment at Didcot Girls’ School will help them reach their full potential.
