August 2016 - Didcot Girls’ School celebrates record-breaking GCSE results!

We are delighted with the record-breaking examination results achieved this year with a superb 77% of our students achieving 5 or more A*-C grades including English and Maths. This places us in the top 25% of schools nationally for attainment. Results at the highest levels are also outstanding with over 63% of students achieving at least one A* or A grade and 28% of all entries resulting in A* or A grades: 41 students achieved 6 or more A or A* grades. We are also delighted that the average grade per student is a B- grade. The school's Progress 8 score of +0.39 places us in the top 25% of schools nationally for progress as well as attainment. The  overall pass rate of 98% of students achieving at least 5 GCSE passes is also extremely impressive.
 
Our students once again achieved excellent results in the English Baccalaureate with 32% of students achieving 5 GCSEs of C or above in English, Maths, the Sciences, a Modern or Ancient Foreign Language and a Humanity, such as History or Geography.  (The national average for the English Baccalaureate in 2016 was 22%.) 
 
Our students made excellent progress in Maths and English measured from the end of primary school to the end of Year 11 at DGS: 
 
94% made 3+ levels of progress in English (The national average for girls in 2015 was 77%)
82% made 4+ levels of progress in English (The national average for girls in 2015 was 37%)
86% made 3+ levels of progress in Maths (The national average for girls in 2015 was 69%)
53% made 4+ levels of progress in Maths (The national average for girls in 2015 was 30%)
 
In summary, for the 190 students who entered 1851 exams:
 
77% of students gained 5 or more A*-C grades, including English and Maths
80% of students gained a C grade or above in English and Maths
77% of students gained 5 or more A*-C grades
28% of entries were A*-A
54% of entries were A*-B
24% of students gained 5 or more A*-A grades
98% of students gained 5 A*-G grades
99.5% of students gained at least 1 A*-G pass
32% of students achieved the English Baccalaureate
