Ridgeway Education Trust is a multi-academy trust (MAT) which currently comprises two secondary schools, Didcot Girls’ School and St Birinus School.

Didcot Girls’ School is an outstanding school as confirmed by Ofsted in its most recent inspection of the school in November 2015. The school has a commitment to the very highest standards in everything that it does. With 1,420 students, the school is a busy and happy community where real attention is given to professional development and staff wellbeing.

We are looking to appoint a skilled, enthusiastic and committed Chef to take the lead in managing the catering service at Didcot Girls’ School. The successful applicant will be innovative and have the drive, energy and vision to ensure that our catering service works to consistently high standards. They will lead a catering team of eight staff and take full responsibility for planning, implementing and developing the catering offer to ensure it meets the highest standards in terms of quality of food, service and safety. Acting as lead Chef will be a vital part of the role. We expect our Trust to expand and the successful applicant will have the exciting opportunity of helping develop the catering service across other schools in the future.

Terms and Conditions

37 hours per week, term time plus 3 weeks. This is a permanent position with a start date as soon as possible. Pay will be up to £28,303 inclusive of a recruitment and retention allowance which will be available for the exceptional candidate. The postholder also has access to the local government pension scheme.

Contract Terms and Duties

This is a permanent post which should be performed in accordance with the provisions of the terms and conditions of employment of the Ridgeway Education Trust

Accountable to the School Headteacher and Trust Director of Finance & Services

Key Purpose of the Role

To take full responsibility for planning, organising, operating and developing the catering service to ensure it meets the highest standards in terms of quality of food, service and safety

To ensure the school’s outstanding reputation is upheld by the standard of its food quality and general catering service provision, including customer service.
