Vacancy: Cover Supervisor
Didcot Girls’ School wishes to recruit a Cover Supervisor whose primary role is to provide supervision for students whose teacher is absent and to ensure purposeful and successful learning during this time. There is also the opportunity for candidates to extend the role to act as a form tutor. Flexibility to take on a variety of roles at those times when there are no absent teachers is required. This may include administrative tasks and individual or small group support for students in lessons across the curriculum.
Didcot Girls' School is a thriving 11-18 girls' comprehensive school with approximately 1250 on roll. We run a highly successful mixed Sixth Form of around 400 students in partnership with St Birinus, the boys’ school in the town.
Didcot Girls’ School was evaluated as Outstanding by Ofsted in December 2015: we are committed to providing an excellent all girls’ education which enables our students to become resilient, confident and articulate future leaders. Our emphasis is on achieving outstanding academic results alongside providing a rich curriculum and excellent enrichment opportunities.
You will be joining a strong team of Cover Supervisors. Excellent training will be provided through an induction programme. We are looking for someone who enjoys building strong and effective relationships with young people and is able to develop students’ learning, using the resources provided. Ideally you will have prior experience working with young people. Resilience, flexibility and a good grasp of English and Maths are required, as is the ability to take on a role of authority whilst maintaining positive relationships. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a fulfilling role working with young people and to be part of a vibrant and supportive school community.
The role would be suitable for anyone planning to train to teach at a later date and the school would be keen to consider supporting the successful candidate through school-based training via the Schools Direct programme and the Oxfordshire Teaching Schools’ Alliance.
The post is permanent, term-time only, remunerated on Grade 6 and with the possibility of being remunerated on Grade 7 with the additional role of form tutor. There is the possibility of either a full or part time role with the number of days to be agreed on appointment. Please make your preference for number of days clear on your application.
The school day begins at 8.30am and ends at 3.30pm Monday to Thursday and 2.30pm on Friday with a 20 minute unpaid daily break. The starting salary of £13,732.85 at Grade 6 or £15,542.22 at Grade 7 will be paid pro-rata, based on the number of days worked.
