Year 11 Leadership Team visit Microsoft

Posted on: 17/06/2019

On 12th June, Dr Khan arranged for the newly appointed rising Year 11 leadership team to travel to the Microsoft Hub in Thames Valley. Thanks to our sponsor, Micheala Wardell, we had the opportunity to meet people who work for Microsoft, and gain an insight into the company.

After an introduction to the employees, we were taken to learn and develop our skills on programming micro:bits. This was a brand new experience for many of us, but we persevered!

The rest of the afternoon was spent listening to a panel of 4 employees, each having a different job within the company. It was very interesting to hear the range of jobs, and changed our perspectives of what we had previously thought to be an entirely technology-based company. We ended with a quiz, in which we learnt about the external support and projects Microsoft provide, which include environmentalist and humanitarian work.

The overall experience was amazing and we hope to continue working with Microsoft and their brilliant team. We are very grateful to Dr Khan, Dr Comina and Mr Rees for accompanying us on the trip.
