DGS Swim TeamsPosted on: 28/11/2019
Our Junior and Intermediate swim teams were ranked 18th and 12th fastest at the National Championships!
On 16th November, the DGS Junior and Intermediate swim teams travelled to the London Aquatic Centre to compete in the ESSA National Team Championships for the fifth consecutive year. This was the culmination of a long journey of competitions, beating over 300 school across the country, to become one of just 30 teams in the National final.
After a 7:15am start the teams arrived at the aquatics centre for warm-ups and then had a long wait until their competition started at 1pm. The DGS teams competed mid-afternoon.
The Juniors swam an amazing time of 2.22.07, knocking one minute off their qualifying time and finishing 4th in their heat – finally finishing 18th overall.
The intermediates swam an excellent time of 2.10.52, knocking nearly two minutes off their qualifying time and finishing 4th in their heat too – finally finishing 12th overall.
Being ranked 18th for the juniors and 12th for the intermediates is an amazing achievement and the girls, we are all very proud of them. It was a superb day, made even better by meeting Tom Daley with whom the intermediate squad managed to get a photo!
We would like to thank all the parents for their support on the day itself and with the preceding months of swimming training sessions.
