International Women's Day Celebrations at DGS

Posted on: 09/03/2021

Early March is always an exciting time for us celebrating International Women’s Day. This year’s theme is #choosetochallenge, bringing together the opportunity for us all to consider how we will forge a gender equal world and help celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness against continued gender bias, and take action for equality. Let’s all “Choose to Challenge”

International Women's Day 2021

As part of our celebrations our House Captain Team had the opportunity to hold interviews with four Inspirational Women, who work in diverse areas from marine biology, to professional musician and author, to climate change education  and professional athlete and adventurer. We would like to thank our 4 guests, Hazel Prior, Bev Mackenzie, Heather Comina and Sarah Outen so much for taking the time to discuss leadership, their passions, their experiences and so much more with our House Captains. You were a genuine inspiration!

Over the past week, student leaders at DGS have been in conversation with these amazing women, as part of our celebrations for International Women's Day. The speakers are all brilliant and our students have conducted the conversations beautifully!

The speakers are:

Sarah Outen: athlete, adventurer, novelist, film-maker

Bev Mackenzie: oceanographer

Hazel Prior: award winning novelist and harpist

Heather Comina: Founder of Climate Concepts
