DGS staff and students get involved for World Speech Day
In honour of World Speech Day, all members of the school community were invited to take part in the DGS Soap Box Event. This lunchtime event saw students and staff from across the school stepping up to a lectern and giving one-minute presentations on subjects that were important to them.
All the speeches given were impassioned, engaging and moving. The wide-ranging subjects included: how to become an astronaut; the importance of asking ‘why?; the value of water; plastic pollution; and Artificial Intelligence.
It was wonderful seeing staff and students coming together to share their views on such a diverse range of topics, and expressing them so confidently and articulately. Some students overcame huge barriers to stand up and speak in front of such a large audience and we are very proud of them.
High quality oracy is alive and well at Didcot Girls’ School!
Thank you to all those who came to support the event.
