Success for Arkwright Scholarship applicants

An Arkwright Engineering Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship of its type in the UK to inspire and nurture school-age students to be the country’s future leaders of the Engineering Profession.

The Scholarships are awarded to Year 11 students after a rigorous selection process which involves a written application form and a two hour aptitude exam. Candidates who score highly in both of these are then invited to interview at a leading university.

Successful students will receive financial support through the two years of their A levels, Scottish Advanced Highers or equivalent qualifications. Every Scholarship is also sponsored by a commercial company, trade association, university, professional institution, armed service, government organisation, worshipful company, charitable trust or personal donor. This means that the Scholarship also provides practical support such as valuable hands-on work experience and a personal mentor who can help students with aspects of their studies and career planning.

We are proud to announce that Hilary Griffiths and Vanessa Taylor have both applied for Arkwright Scholarships and have been successful in the first part of the application process. This is a huge achievement in itself, putting them both in the top 650 applicants in the UK. They will soon be going to interviews at Imperial College (Vanessa) and Southampton (Hilary). We wish them every success during the final stage of their Arkwright Scholarship selection.
