Dance students meet choreographer Rivhard Alston at the Oxford Playhouse

On Friday 12th May, Year 11 and 12 Dance students had the opportunity to meet Richard Alston at the Oxford Playhouse. Alston is a choreographer at The Place, London School of Contemporary dance and has made a huge contribution to modern dance in Britain.

We were very fortunate to be able to be in his pre-show talk where he spoke to us about his influences, choreographic ideas, personal training and about his current company. It was amazing and, in all honesty, we were a little star-struck.

We then watched his company perform 3 amazing pieces; Tangent, Chacony & An Italian in Madrid, which just confirmed how brilliant he actually is. We did, however, all disagree on which was our favourite piece! A great way to spend a Friday evening.
