DGS and SBS students join together for Energy Quest

On 9th June, Year 7 and 8 students met with their peers at St Birinus School to focus on engineering; working in teams to build and improve devices using sustainable energy sources. Alexis Hunter Craig from Energy Quest workshops along with staff from SBS, supported the teams as they evaluated different renewable energy sources, built an electric car and calibrated it to find out the charge required to travel a set distance and, finally, designed a wind turbine which could give the maximum possible power output.

We would like to thank Young Engineers for providing this excellent opportunity for our students. Well done to all the girls taking part who rose to the challenge and completed their tasks. Maybe some of them are our future engineers who will one day help solve some of the big energy-related issues facing us all.
