    To celebrate the launch of First Light in the Classroom (FLIC), First Light is offering one lucky school the chance to win a free professional filmmaking workshop. The competition is open to all schools across the UK but there will only be one winner. Entries can be from a pupil, a group of pupils or a teacher.     This was organised and run by the Further Maths Support Network at Oxford Brookes University on 27th June. This was a day for Year 10 students all around the County who are interested in Mathematics and may consider studying both Mathematics and Further Mathematics at A level. The programme for the day included: Fun Maths Road show 8 out of 10 cats ( a practical introduction to statistical significance) A talk on ‘Creation of Number’ by Ben Sparks a Mathematician and a Musician Dragon Quiz- requiring athleticism of brain and body.     Dragons' Den Challenge Day!

    On Wednesday 29th June we held a Dragons' Den Challenge Day for Gifted and Talented year 5 students. 38 local primary school children arrived at Didcot Girls' School, ready for a day of challenge, teamwork and creativity and they certainly weren't let down! They were flung immediately into creative and entertaining drama games with Miss Davis that had them literally tied in knots with only their powers of communication to get them out of it! This was followed by a master class in German questioning with Mr Harvey, which had all of the girls enthusiastically stating that they felt 'fantastisch.' Read More
