Pendon Museum

At Pendon they aim to recapture, in detailed and colourful miniature, scenes showing the beauty of the English countryside as it used to be in the years around 1930. they also create realistic models of, farms, fields and lanes recalling the peaceful country ways of that period. They also create trains, that are accurately represented, providing a fascinating record of the railways of the time.

Pendon is being created entirely by volunteer modellers who work to the most exacting standards.

Barking DogTrindledown Farm

Trindledown Farm is set in approximately ten acres, on the edge of the Lambourn Downs in Berkshire.  It provides home from home comforts, with, eventually, its own modern veterinary unit to cater for all needs.  Visitors and volunteers are welcome to spend time with the animals, and even takes them for walks.

Trindledown Farm is able to provide short term accommodation, when space allows, for the pets of local senior citizens if there is no-one to look after their pets during hospitalisation or convalescence.

Some elderly owners, who entrust their pets into the Trust’s care, may prefer us to find new homes for them. This is done following a strict procedure to try to match up the new owner and pet.

Boat trips

Exploring the Thames by boat is a popular pastime. But be warned. The Thames, the River Cherwell and the Oxford Canal all get congested with pleasure craft in the summer.

You will find hirers for canal and river in the Yellow Pages under Boat Hire. The principal local passenger boat operator is Salter's Steamers Ltd (Telephone: 01865 243421), next to Folly Bridge. It runs twice daily two-hour trips down the Thames from Oxford to Abingdon, ¼mid-May to late September. Depart Oxford 9.15am and 2.30pm. Return from Abingdon 11.15am and 4.45pm. Also passenger boat trips between Reading and Henley, Maidenhead and Windsor and Staines and Windsor.

Visitors are advised to telephone boat hire companies for up-to-the-minute information on availability and opening times.
