Tour of Didcot

Follow the tour below or click on the red squares to go direct to that part of the tour. The blue line is the root we took.

Our walk starts at Greenmere Primary School, one of the schools in our 'schools' page. We walk south along Queensway towards..
St Birinus School, again mentioned in our 'schools' page. This is a boys only secondary school but has a shared sixth form with Didcot Girls School. We continue a few metres south until we reach ...
Didcot Leisure Centre . This is a leisure centre, providing squash courts, fitness centre, social area, badminton courts and offers many fitness classes and is home for several clubs including martial arts and badminton. Call in here for information leaflets.
Continuing to walk down Queensway we pass a few useful shops and a Post Office in Cockcroft Road. Look over to your left as you pass Newlands road and you will see 'The Wave' Didcots leisure pool. Look it up on our sports page. The Wave is open for leisure swimming and a fitness club. You can also attend many swimming classes and fitness classes, including one for teenagers.
Continue to the end of Queensway and turn right into Park Road. Here on the left is the Vibe, Youth Centre. This is also the edge of Edmunds Park, a popular place to walk your dog!
Continuing past 'The Vibe' on the right is the tennis courts, which are very popular in the summer. Looking past the tennis courts over Edmund park you can see 'The Wave' across the far side of the park. In the park there is also a fitness trail!
Walk up to the end of Park road and turn right at the roundabout into The Broadway. Passed the civic hall on the left, where lots of social events are held. On the left is the Marlborough club, often used for social events and home of a Bowls club. Further down the Broadway is Didcot library, where you can borrow books, videos, DVD's and access the internet on their computers.
Further down the Broadway we pass the town shops and then reach the site for the construction of the new town centre. This is a very exciting period in the history of Didcot. After many years of waiting a new town centre is being built with about 30 shops. So far only Sainsbury is open, with Argos, Woolworths and several more to open shortly. This is the end of our walk, hopefully by the time you read this there will be an exciting new shopping centre to explore!
