The overall aim of everyone at Didcot
Girls’ School – governors, staff, parents, pupils – is to prepare girls
for their adult life by developing their knowledge, skills and understanding so
that they may become well-qualified, articulate, participating and contributing
members of society.
Our aim is to develop the talents of all
pupils by creating equal access to academic, artistic, practical and sporting
spheres.
Our aim is to develop the personal
qualities of all pupils so that they have the ability
- to think independently
- to enquire
- to solve problems
- to communicate
- to work in a team.
Throughout their education our aim is to
foster an enjoyment of the challenge of learning. We also believe that strong
social skills and an understanding of personal health will develop in pupils a
sense of their own identity, clear values and a defined moral code so that they
may play a responsible role in their own society.
As a Language College we aim:
- To raise further standards of
achievement for all students particularly in Modern Foreign Languages,
through innovation in teaching and learning and by enhancing the resources
available to students and the community.
- To permeate the curriculum and the
school ethos with an international perspective so that all students will
have a wider appreciation of the world and a greater linguistic competence.
- To build upon our growing partnership
with commerce, industry and local schools, colleges and universities. To
develop in our students the skills, qualities and capacity to participate
increasingly in the global economy and so generate the wealth that supports
our nation.
- To broaden and diversify the range of
Modern Foreign Languages taught in the school, in association with sponsor
companies and partner schools.
