We seek a skilled and experienced Senior Counsellor who is passionate about making a positive difference to young people’s lives. You will lead the counselling service for Didcot Girls’ School, St Birinus Boys’ School and the mixed Didcot Sixth Form in Ridgeway Education Trust. The team comprises one full time and two part-time School Counsellors as well as a number of trainees. Based at Didcot Girls’ School, you will be joining a values-driven, inclusive and high performing Trust with a team of staff committed to providing the best possible care and supporting the best possible outcomes for young people.

Didcot Girls’ School is an outstanding school, as confirmed by Ofsted (November 2015). The school is a vibrant and happy place where students are offered superb opportunities to develop in an environment that fosters resilience, leadership skills and a commitment to the highest educational standards. St Birinus School was judged to be a good school, once more, by Ofsted (February 2020) and is on its way to outstanding. The school has a strong sense of identity and a tangibly vibrant ethos.

Both secondary schools are unique as the only single sex state schools in Oxfordshire and share the same strong values of high-quality teaching and learning and respectful relationships within an inclusive learning community.

Application forms and further details are available on the Didcot Girls’ School website, under the ‘Join Us’ tab at www.didcotgirls.oxon.sch.uk

To apply, please complete the school application form and include a response (no more than 2 sides of A4 in 11 point) to the following question: ‘What does an excellent counselling provision look like and how would I ensure this was a reality in this post?’

Completed applications should be sent to the Headteacher’s PA, Frances Adley, by 9am on Friday 18th June at fadley@didcotgirls.oxon.sch.uk

Should you wish to visit the schools prior to application then please contact Frances Adley to make an appointment.

Ridgeway Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
