Didcot Girls’ School is a dynamic school. In December 2015, the school was judged to be Outstanding. As Ofsted recognised, we invest in all of our staff: ‘Staff have exceptional opportunities for professional development. Staff feel valued and really like working in the school. Morale is very high.'(Ofsted).
We are a values-driven school, committed to high quality teaching and learning and respectful relationships within an inclusive learning community. Developing stimulating and student-centred teaching and learning is at the centre of our school development work. We work hard to ensure that all girls’ education enables our students to develop confidence, leadership skills and high levels of aspiration.
Summer 2019 GCSE results were superb with 83% of all students achieving 4+ in English and Maths, and 64% doing the same at 5+. Our Attainment 8 figure was significantly above national average at 54.3 and our most recent Progress 8 score of +0.71 places us in the top 3% of schools nationally. Results at A level in the mixed sixth form shared with our partner school, St Birinus School, are also extremely strong.
We are looking to recruit a Cover Supervisor whose primary role is to provide supervision for students whose teacher is absent and to ensure purposeful and successful learning during this time. There is also the opportunity for candidates to extend the role to act as a form tutor. Flexibility to take on a variety of roles at those times when there are no absent teachers is required. This may include administrative tasks and individual or small group support for students in lessons across the curriculum.
You will be joining a strong team of Cover Supervisors. Excellent training will be provided through an induction programme. We are looking for someone who enjoys building strong and effective relationships with young people and is able to develop students’ learning, using the resources provided. Ideally you will have prior experience working with young people. Resilience, flexibility and a good grasp of English and Maths are required, as is the ability to take on a role of authority whilst maintaining positive relationships. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a fulfilling role working with young people and to be part of a vibrant and supportive school community.
The role would also be suitable for anyone planning to train to teach at a later date and can be offered both on a part-term and/or a temporary basis to the right candidate. Training will be given.
The post is permanent, term-time only, remunerated on Grade 6 and with the possibility of being remunerated on Grade 7 with the additional role of form tutor. There is the possibility of either a full or part time role with the number of days to be agreed on appointment. Please make your preference for number of days clear on your application.
Working hours are 8.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am - 2.30pm on Friday with a 20-minute unpaid daily break.
The starting salary of £15,013.87 at Grade 6 or £16,687.57 at Grade 7.
Please send a completed application form paying particular attention to the “skills and experience” section to firstname.lastname@example.org
Application deadline: 9am on Monday 29th November.
Please note that the school reserves the right to interview on receipt of applications and to appoint prior to the deadline, so early application is recommended.
Please be aware that you will be required to bring your original degree certificate, proof of residence and your Disclosure and Barring Service or CRB certificate, if applicable, to your interview.
Didcot Girls’ School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
