Please enjoy the Thought for the Term from Miss Roberts

Posted on: 15/12/2023

This term, we have been very fortunate to hear presentations from different groups of student leaders in our staff briefings. Staff really appreciate the opportunity to be updated on the activities of these groups and it’s a welcome opportunity to show our appreciation to these students who make such an active contribution to the school community. We have heard from members of the Public Speaking group and from the Diversity Leaders this term. The work they do is fantastic and is only a small snapshot of the inspirational work taking place across the school’s clubs. Most recently, the Interact Club came to update us on what they have been working on. The Interact Club is supported by the Rotary Club; through it, students organise projects and fundraisers to benefit both the school and international communities. These student leaders are excellent role models in their drive to bring communities together.

Similarly, our DGS community looks outwards to the local community in today’s non-uniform day organised by the School Council. We are raising money for SOFEA and its community larder. This local charity does amazing work supporting young people through its education programmes and supporting those in the wider community experiencing food insecurity. We are proud to support them and to be speaking to our students about why it’s so important that we look outwards. We have so many students who role model how links with outside networks can strengthen our own inclusive community and we are very grateful for their contributions. We look forward to seeing where their work takes them next term.
