On Tuesday 12th March, DGS hosted its annual Student Leadership Conference to mark International Women's Day. The conference was attended by Year 9, 10 and 11 students who had a joyous and very informative day, listening to some incredible stories from our guest speakers. Our speakers included a medical doctor, Dr Susan Connell, Leah Parren, a primary school teacher, Corin Jones, an independent photographer and author, Jim Hennington, an actuary and Eddie Odhiambo, an ex-professional footballer who now works on football education for young people. We had a splendid morning and our young people participated with much keenness and agility. Ms Street wound the morning up with a short workshop on leadership and 'followship', which was brilliant too! Our Diversity Leaders opened the conference with an incredible cultural dance and Macy Sharman singing Adele (with Tushya accompanying on the piano) were very welcome additions to the day.
