This year's International Day another brilliant success

Posted on: 07/02/2018

It was an exciting day for Primary School pupils from Didcot and the surrounding area as they attended International Day at Didcot Girls’ School. Their journey around the world included visits to countries such as Mexico, Iceland, China and Spain. Each group of pupils experienced the culture of each country through a range of activities, including food tasting, language learning and crafts. The pupils came away with a stamp in their passports, souvenirs and lasting memories of their visit. They were expertly guided through the day by the Didcot Girls’ School Year 8 tour guides: a particular highlight of the day was being shown how to use chopsticks by the Year 7 Mandarin Excellence Programme students and Chinese students from Hefei No 6 Middle School, Anhui Province, who are visiting Didcot Girls’ School to experience life in a British school this week.

Mrs Warwick, Executive Headteacher, said: ‘International Day has a long and proud tradition at Didcot Girls’ School; as a school we are committed to language learning. Our students love finding out about the cultures of different countries and people and have really enjoyed sharing their passion with younger students today. I am extremely grateful to Mrs Warnock, without whom today would not have happened, our students for being such excellent ambassadors for their school, and primary colleagues for their support throughout the day.’
