DGS Remembers

Posted on: 12/11/2018

A century on from the Armistice of 1918, we were honoured to be able to take part in the Didcot Remembrance Parade on Sunday 11th November.

We joined Mr Marston with boys from SBS and several other Didcot Schools to take part in the parade through packed streets of Didcot to the War Memorial next to the Civic Hall. Once at the memorial, a moving tribute and service was given to remember the millions who gave their lives during the First World War and every conflict since.

As well as remembering the fallen, the Royal British Legion this year asked us all to say ‘Thank You’ to all who served and sacrificed, and it was a great privilege to be able to lay a wreath on the Memorial bearing this message on behalf of the school:

Your legacy is our liberty. Thank you from all at Didcot Girls’ School.

Thanks also to Lucy Coull, Jessica Fuller, Lily Gilmour, Emily Green, Maisie King, Laura Shankland and Saffron Simpson for representing the school so well at such an important event.
