DGS hosts third annual Student Leadership Conference

Posted on: 11/03/2019

On Wednesday 9th March Didcot Girls’ School held its third annual Student Leadership Conference themed ‘Creativity and Innovation’. Attended by students from Year 9, 10 and 12, it turned out to be a day packed with inspiration and powerful messages that our young people found profoundly useful. Our speakers included Jane Pitt from Microsoft, Amanda Hassel, Deputy President at the Army Selection Board, Ian Wigston, Director of Bright Field Consultancy, and Nicole Knott, a global finance expert. All our speakers, from diverse and eclectic backgrounds, had a story to tell about their journeys. Stories that involved dreams, aspirations, resilience, strength and rewards. Our students were struck by our speaker from Microsoft who invited us to carefully consider what success means to us both in the long and short term. They also enjoyed considering the roles played by creativity and innovation in different scenarios. We were delighted to be joined by the Sixth Form and by our friends from SBS. A special thanks goes out Miss Nelson Addy, who shared her top tips for leadership as well as her own experiences in developing those skills.
