9NHM's Pretty Muddy Race for Life

Posted on: 17/09/2019

Everybody at DGS will know someone who has been affected by cancer. This is why, on Saturday the 14th September, several members of 9NHM, alongside Miss Moody, Mr Fulwell, Mrs Fulwell and some very committed parents took part in the 5K Pretty Muddy Race for Life in South Park, Oxford.

We met at the start line at 11 o’clock and, after a quick warm up with Michelle from BBC Radio Oxford, it was soon time to start the race! With so many people taking part, it was a really exciting and supportive atmosphere to be a part of.

We had an amazing time and the team spirit was high, with many parents, staff and students dressed in weird and whacky outfits. Our favourite obstacle was the final one; not just because it meant the end was in sight but because it involved climbing up a large inflatable slide and sliding into a pit of mud!

The highlight though was coming together as a team, crossing the finish line hand-in-hand and, of course, celebrating with ice-cream!

Not only was this an excellent experience but, importantly, we were delighted to raise over £1528 for a really good cause. Thank you to everyone who supported us.
