Globetrotting at DGS!
Posted on: 28/01/2026DGS International Day 2026: Primary Pupils Travel the World Without Leaving School.
Didcot Girls’ School was delighted to once again host International Day, our much-loved annual celebration of languages and cultures, welcoming almost 250 primary pupils from Didcot and the surrounding area.
On a bright January day, our young visitors set off on a whirlwind journey across the globe, travelling from France to Germany and from Peru to China in just a few steps. At each country stand, pupils collected passport stamps and took part in hands-on cultural activities. From creating Northern Lights-inspired artwork in Sweden to building Viking fortresses in Denmark, every stop offered something new to discover.
Supporting the day were over 30 enthusiastic Year 8 DGS students, who demonstrated outstanding leadership and teamwork throughout. Many used the experience to work towards their Gold badge on the DGS Leadership Ladder, acting as confident and inspiring role models for the younger pupils.
The day ended with plenty of smiles, as each child left with a suitcase of memories, and a collection of crafts inspired by countries as varied as Austria and Brazil.
We look forward to welcoming another group of young globetrotters next year, as this exciting and much-loved DGS tradition continues to grow.
