Success for DGS cross-country teams in relay

Posted on: 12/11/2021

On Tuesday 9th November, our U12, U13, U14 and U16 cross country teams attended St Helens and Katherine's School to take part in a 3.5km relay.

All students ran exceptionally well, demonstrating their athletic ability and talent for endurance running. First to run were the U12s, with three outstanding, if not somewhat nervous, Year 7 students. However, their nerves only enhanced their performance and secured them a 3rd place victory.

Up next were the U13s, with another three wonderfully talented students. The team kept themselves in a secure position all the way around, demonstrating their prowess, especially after such a long time away from the cross country field due to Covid. The U13s secured a 4th place position.

Competing in the last race of the day were both the U14s and U16s. They had waited so patiently for the other races and were keen to get running. So keen, that the U14s stormed their way around securing a 2nd place medal! The U16s - a team of three Year 10s students - battled it out against teams from other schools that included a number of Year 11 students. They dug deep and demonstrated great resilience, completing the race in 6th place.

We look forward to seeing more of their talents in the upcoming House cross-country event during PE lessons! Well done, everyone!
