Students organise bake sale for British Red Cross' Ukraine appeal

Posted on: 01/04/2022

Last Saturday, a group of Year 8 students set up a cake stall in Didcot town centre to raise money for the British Red Cross' appeal to help people affected by the war in Ukraine.

Having spent the days leading up to the sale frantically baking cookies, cakes and brownies, Charlie, Isabella, Maiso, Annabelle, Annie, Zoe, Tahli, Nada, Freya, Marlie and Chloe raised £518.40 during the four hours spent selling their wares. With cakes leftover the next day, Charlie spent the Sunday selling cakes from the end of her driveway, raising another £133. Additional donations prompted by the sale brought the final total to a very impressive £1,000.

We are so proud of these students for taking the initiative to support such an important cause and for giving up their weekend to do so. Big thanks also go to their tutor, Miss Stoeger-Goddard, and student Summer, who helped with the baking.
