Year 10s go out on Work Experience

Posted on: 21/06/2022

Last week, Year 10 students went out to work during our Work Experience week.

They secured some fantastic placements across a wide range of sectors including healthcare, education, engineering, scientific research, legal services, architecture, theatre, finance and information technology. There was also a Work Experience day at Thames Valley Police and two lucky students had the opportunity to visit 10 Downing Street! In a year following the pandemic, 96% of our students went out on placements - a huge success!

We have received wonderful feedback from both employers and students. Employers said the students were "mature, well-rounded and proactive", "enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking", "polite, courteous and a credit to the school". We are incredibly proud of them for their positive approach to work experience.

Students described their work experience as "inspiring", "engaging" and "fun". 90% of those who responded to our survey said that the experience would benefit them in their future career planning, and 100% said that they had developed some of the most ‘in demand’ skills including communication, teamwork, problem solving and leadership.

We are extremely grateful to all the employers who have offered them this opportunity, and to the parents who have organised such a variety of interesting placements. We hope you enjoy the photographs.
