Inclusion GKK

One of the many things I love about our school is that we see our values in action every single day. This term we are celebrating our value of inclusion, whereby we commit to embracing diversity and difference in all its wonderful forms. November is a great month to talk about inclusion: we mark Anti-bullying Week, Disability Awareness Month and we continue the incredible work students led for Black History Month in October.

This year, Anti-bullying Week was themed "Make a noise about Bullying". Our Wellbeing, Ethos and Community Leaders got together to discuss what we must do to be as inclusive as possible and here are the highlights:

  • Spend time considering how others might think and feel as a result of our words. Words matter so choose them with empathy.
  • Encourage each other to reach out for help when needed. A big part of being inclusive is being able to reach out to those we trust.
  • Call out injustice when you see it and do so calmly and respectfully. Being inclusive means not being a bystander when you witness injustice of any sort.

I felt truly inspired by our student leaders and their incredibly mature stance on inclusion as part of our Anti-bullying Week discussions. We intend to keep up this good work as the year goes on! #DGSpride
